Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, and His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, will celebrate a prayer service for hope and perseverance, peace and justice in Ukraine on Sunday, February 16 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York is expected to attend the service.
Sunday, February 16, 2025
4:00 p.m.
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul
18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Philadelphia, PA 19103
The service, which will observe the third anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, is part of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia’s 24-hour spiritual renewal program, taking place from February 15-16.
The program is an opportunity for the faithful of the Archeparchy and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to celebrate the Jubilee Year of the Catholic Church together with His Beatitude Sviatoslav, head of 5 million Ukrainian Catholics throughout the world who is visiting the United States on a pastoral mission. The purpose of his visit is to support his faithful, many of whom were forced to leave their homeland due to the full-scale war that began on February 24, 2022. He will also advocate for peace and justice in his country.
On the same day, February 16, at 11 a.m., His Beatitude will preside over the Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia.
