WASHINGTON – Each year, National Marriage Week USA and World Marriage Day provide an opportunity for the Catholic Church to focus on and celebrate the vocation to marriage and family life.

Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation benefiting Martha’s Choice Marketplace

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will join in the national observance of Catholic Schools Week January 30, 2022 – February 5, 2022. Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of the Christ-centered, faith-based education that students receive in the 119 elementary, 15 secondary, and 3 special education schools in the five-county metropolitan area comprising the Archdiocese. The national theme for Catholic Schools Week 2022 is Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service. Knowledge and Service.” 

The Catholic Church will hold its annual celebration of World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life on February 2, and parishes will commemorate the event over the weekend of February 5-6.

The Mass also marks the Jubilee Year commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis de Sales. Tensions are mounting as the United States and its NATO allies consider how best to respond to the massive build-up of Russian military forces and equipment on the border of Ukraine.

This year’s fundraising goal is $12.5 million with the theme “Giving Hope to All.”

Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities called on the faithful to “pray, fast, and work for the day when the gift of every human life is protected in law and welcomed in love” on the anniversary of the court’s decision.

Archbishop Pérez will announce this year’s fundraising goals and highlight the impact the initiative has on those served by the social services and educational ministries of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
