Upon review of the life and good works of Mother Alphonse, Pope Francis attributed a healing miracle that took place on May 29, 1955 to her intercession. The acceptance of the authenticity of this miracle officially closed a long period of study of her heroic virtues necessary for beatification.

Earlier today, the Secondary School System of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Association of Catholic School Teachers, Local 1776 (ACT) reached a two-year agreement for a new contract for full-time, lay high school teachers in the seventeen Archdiocesan high schools. 

Some victims of historic abuse are barred from filing a court case because the Pennsylvania Constitution prevents time-barred claims from being revived, and statutes of limitation serve a needed purpose.  We nonetheless believe these victims are entitled to help.  This is consistent with our on-going approach.
