The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia (CFGP) and the Catholic Charities Appeal (CCA) are responding to the unprecedented need caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia by participating in #GivingTuesdayNow.

Coakley of Oklahoma City and chairman of USCCB’s Domestic Justice and Human Development, Archbishop Nelson J. Perez of Philadelphia, and chairman of the Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church, and Bishop Joseph N. Perry, auxiliary bishop of Chicago, and chairman of Subcommittee on African American Affairs have released the following statement in response to the impact of the COVID-19 virus in African American communities.

The donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was made possible through Catholic Charities USA, the national office for the Catholic Charities ministry nationwide.

In response to the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Most Reverend José H. Gomez, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Archbishop of Los Angeles, has announced that the USCCB will join the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops in renewing the consecrations of the two nations to the care of our Blessed Mother on Friday, May 1st.

“We urge our political leaders and policymakers to consider the realities and emerging, pressing needs of the farmworker communities across the country during this time of the coronavirus outbreak.

As the world continues to face the ongoing effects of the global pandemic of the coronavirus, Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has announced that the U.S. bishops will join the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on May 1 in renewing the consecrations of the two nations to the care of our Blessed Mother.

From April 13th – May 29th, SJH will receive nearly 700 pre-packaged meals each week donated from Wawa via the Step Up to the Plate Initiative. The meals will be distributed during SJH’s daily lunch service.

The Archdiocesan Pastoral Center located at 222 North 17th Street will serve as a designated diaper distribution site for families in need in Center City, Philadelphia.
