Cardinal O’Hara community to cheer team at sendoff before they depart for Hershey.
The Cardinal O’Hara High School (COHS) Girls’ Basketball Team from Springfield (Delaware County) will contend for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 6A State Championship when they play Spring-Ford from Royersford (Montgomery County).
The COHS community as well as members of the school’s Drum-Line will gather to cheer the Lady Lions at a sendoff as they depart ahead of their game on Friday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey (Dauphin County). The COHS Girls’ Basketball team will walk out to the back parking lot. The bus will be located at the main doors of the gymnasium entrance.

This is the fifth appearance in the state finals for the COHS Girls’ Basketball program. They claimed titles in 2021 and 2022 and were runners-up in 2009 and 2016. The team defeated Parkland High School in Allentown (Lehigh County) 51-32 in the PIAA 6A Semifinals on Monday, March 18. COHS has three recent graduates who will play in the NCAA Division I Women’s tournament this weekend.
Archbishop John Carroll High School Boys’ Basketball Team from Radnor (Delaware Count) will play in the PIAA Boys 4A Championship game on Thursday, March 21 at 8:00 p.m. against Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland (Beaver County) at the Giant Center in Hershey (Dauphin County). This is the fourth appearance in the state finals for the ACHS Boys’ Basketball program. They captured the state title in 2009 and were runners-up in 2013 and 2015. The team defeated Scranton Preparatory High school 66-56, in the 4A Semifinals on Monday, March 18.

Archbishop Wood High School Girls’ Basketball Team from Warminster (Bucks County) will play in the PIAA Girls 5A Championship game on Saturday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. against Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie (Erie County) at the Giant Center in Hershey (Dauphin County). This is the team’s 12th appearance in the PIAA State Finals. They have won three consecutive PIAA titles in 2021-2023 and eight in the program’s history. AWHS won the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship with a 54-52 victory in two overtimes over Archbishop John Carroll High School on Monday, February 26. They also captured the PIAA District XII Championship on Thursday, February, 29 over Freire Charter High School in Philadelphia 74-34.
