Reverend Ferdinand Buccafurni, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Donato Parish, Philadelphia, died on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood.
Father Buccafurni was born on September 1, 1930 in Calabria, Italy. His family moved to the United State in 1940 and resided in Philadelphia. He is the son of the late Vincent Buccafurni and Marina Mazza. Father Buccafurni attended Saint Mary of the Eternal Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Buccafurni was ordained on May 15, 1958, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, C.S.C. Father Buccafurni served as Parochial Vicar, Immaculate Conception Parish, Kelayres; Holy Saviour Parish, Norristown; Mater Dolorosa Parish, Philadelphia, Saint Donato Parish, Philadelphia; and Visitation B.V.M. Parish, Norristown. He served as Parochial Administrator at Our Lady of Angels Parish, Philadelphia. He also served as Pastor at Saint Mary Magdalen De Pazzi Parish, Philadelphia, and Saint Donato Parish, Philadelphia. In 2013 he retired from active ministry and was named Pastor Emeritus, Saint Donato Parish, Philadelphia.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Colman Church, Ardmore, on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 9:00AM, followed by a viewing at 9:30. Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D. will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend John Ames, Reverend Joseph Okonski, and Reverend Monsignor Joseph Nicolo will be the homilist. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
