Reverend Monsignor John E. Breslin, Retired, died on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Saint Joseph Manor, Meadowbrook.
Monsignor Breslin was born on July 29, 1933, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Leo H. Breslin and Ann Ellen Kelley. Monsignor Breslin attended Saint Bridget Parochial School, Philadelphia and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Breslin was ordained on May 13, 1961, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John J. Krol, D.D., J.C.D. He was named Honorary Prelate of His Holiness John Paul II on December 18, 1985. Monsignor Breslin served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Isidore Parish, Quakertown; Our Lady of Charity Parish, Brookhaven, Saint Colman Parish, Ardmore, Immaculate Conception Parish, Levittown, Saint Margaret Parish, Narberth, Saint Matthew Parish, Conshohocken. He served as Pastor, Saint Christopher Parish, Philadelphia, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Doylestown. He also served as Director, Cemeteries Office, Director, Office for the Archdiocesan Synod, and Regional Vicar, Delaware County Vicariate. He retired from active ministry in 2008.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Albert the Great Church, Huntingdon Valley on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 9:45 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior. will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. Duncan, Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Sullivan, and Reverend Monsignor Michael J. Carroll will be the homilist.
Monsignor Breslin is survived by his brothers Gerard, and Leo, and several nieces and
nephews. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
