Reverend Dennis P. Boyle, Retired, Resident, Saint Joseph Villa, Flourtown, died on Monday, August 30, 2021. Father Boyle was born on July 18, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Edward J. Boyle and Mary A. Sullivan. Father Boyle attended Saint Charles Borromeo, Parochial School, Drexel Hill, and Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Boyle was ordained on May 19, 1973, at The Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Boyle served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Richard Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Joan of Arc Parish, Philadelphia; Queen of Peace Parish, Ardsley; Saint Ambrose Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Jerome Parish, Philadelphia. Father served as Military Chaplain, U.S. Navy from 1989-2008. He served as Pastor, Saint Jerome Parish, Philadelphia, from 2011 through 2015. Father Boyle also served as Chaplain, Immaculate Mary Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Father Boyle retired from active ministry in 2018.
Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Drexel Hill, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 9:30 A.M., followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Boyle at 11:00 A.M. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Joseph E. Howarth, Reverend Roland D. Slobogin, Reverend Eugene M. Tully, and Reverend Monsignor James J. Graham will be the homilist.
Father Boyle is survived by his brothers, Edward (Dolores,) Richard (Margaret,) and Sisters, Elizabeth, Winifred Shanders, Mary Sylvester (Daniel.) Sister-in-laws, Helene, Patricia, and many nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
