Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Catechetical Formation to Hold Youth Rally for over 2,000 Sophomore Students

Ten Archdiocesan High Schools Will Be Present for Inaugural Metanoia Rally

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Catechetical Formation will hold its first sophomore youth rally and retreat titled Metanoia at La Salle University’s Tom Gola Arena.  Metanoia is a Greek word meaning “to turn around.” 

 The one-day gathering allows Archdiocesan students to gather as a Catholic community and to participate in discussions and liturgy to inspire change in their minds, hearts and lives.

Renowned Catholic motivational speaker, Colleen Kelly-Rayner, will serve as the emcee for the event. Leah Darrow, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model, will be the featured keynote speaker. Bill Monaghan’s Some Assembly Required will provide entertainment. Father Stephen DeLacy, Vocation Director for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will preside during holy hour. Prior to the start of the event, Colleen M. Hanycz, Ph.D., President of La Salle University, will address the students.  

 

Background information on Leah Darrow:

Leah Darrow is a former model and contestant on the television show, America’s Next Top Model.  She is now an international speaker and author that dares her audience to live a life according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Leah has appeared on numerous radio and television programs regarding topics of faith and culture. She also addressed a United Nations panel on behalf of international youth in July 2011. Background information on Colleen M. Hanycz, Ph.D.

Colleen M. Hanycz, Ph.D. is La Salle University’s 29th President—the first layperson and first woman to serve as President in La Salle’s 153-year history. Throughout her accomplished career as an attorney, professor, and administrator, Hanycz has been an active proponent of Catholic education as a means to advance the common good and to celebrate the dignity of each person. Background information on Bill Monaghan:

Bill Monaghan has been a musician since his high school days in the Philadelphia suburbs.
