Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office for Black Catholics to Celebrate the Work of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year’s theme is Dwell Together- in the Spirit of Mercy

The Annual Commemorative Prayer and Praise Service in honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will feature the Philadelphia Catholic Mass Choir and the Immanuel Movement Praise Team. The guest preacher will be Reverend Cean James, Pastor of Grace Christian Fellowship UCC Church. Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., will pronounce the closing prayer and blessing.

Catholics along with other Christians and people of other faiths will gather at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church to celebrate the life and legacy of the civil rights leader, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The commemorative prayer service will begin with a procession of religious leaders. Throughout the service, the Mass choir will lead the congregation with spirited gospel music. All are welcome to attend.

The Annual Archdiocesan Commemorative Prayer and Praise Service is sponsored by the Secretariat for Evangelization, the Office for Black Catholics, and local Black Catholic parishes.
