Archdiocese Of Philadelphia Begins Local Observance Of National Three-Year Eucharistic Revival On The Solemnity Of The Most Holy Body And Blood Of Christ

Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the 11:30 a.m. Opening Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in Milmont Park (Delaware County) and also mark the parish’s centennial celebration.

Bishop Timothy C. Senior will celebrate the 11:00 a.m. Solemn Opening Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will mark the inauguration of the three-year National Eucharistic Revival called for by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (also known as the Feast of Corpus Christi).

The goal of the Eucharistic Revival is to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. ​These three years will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years. More than on hundred thousand Catholics will join together in Indianapolis for a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage toward the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will celebrate the opening of Eucharist Revival at the Our Lady of Peace Parish in Milmont Park (Delaware County). The Our Lady of Peace Parish community will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary that day.

Following the Communion of the Mass, Archbishop Pérez will lead a Eucharistic Procession to Notre Dame de Lourdes Church (Swarthmore). Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will take place at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, which is a worship site of Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Faithful throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are invited to participate in the Solemn Mass for the opening of the Diocesan Phase of the Eucharistic Revival at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel, which is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Auxiliary Bishop, will serve as the principal celebrant and homilist.

Following the Communion of the Mass, there will be a Eucharistic procession to Saint Patrick Church (20th and Locust Streets, Philadelphia). Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will take place at Saint Patrick Church at 2:00 p.m.
