About Saint Charles Seminary

Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary was founded as the Roman Catholic seminary for the Diocese of Philadelphia in 1832, making it the oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the state of Pennsylvania. Thanks to the prayers and generosity of many people, the seminary has been able to continue its mission of forming future priests continuously for the last 193 years, both for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and many other dioceses and religious orders throughout the country and around the world.
