Archbishop Nelson Pérez to Celebrate Annual Mass Honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe

Faithful from North and South Philadelphia will process on foot to the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in honor of our Blessed Virgin Mary. 
An estimated 1,200 people are expected to attend

Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez will be the principal celebrant and homilist at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Annual Mass honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe on the eve of her feast day. Our Lady of Guadalupe is patroness of the Americas, unborn children, and the New Evangelization.

Bishop Edward M. Deliman, who oversees ministry to the Hispanic Catholic community as part of his pastoral and administrative duties in the Archdiocese, will concelebrate at the Mass along with priests in the Hispanic Apostolate.

The Hispanic Choir of Philadelphia, under the direction of Damaris Thillet, to provide music at the Mass.

Faithful from across the City of Philadelphia will process on foot from their home parishes to the Cathedral. At the conclusion of Communion, Our Lady of Guadalupe’s image will leave the Sanctuary and it will process in the inside of the cathedral for all to see.

Pilgrimage Schedule and route for Philadelphia parishes route to Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral:

4:00 p.m. –        
Parishioners from Saint Veronica Parish and Saint Hugo worship site will process on foot departing from Saint Hugh of Cluny Church at the northern western corner of Howard and Tioga Streets, heading west on Tioga Street, south on 2nd Street, turning right on Spring Garden Avenue, and left onto 17th Street. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 8:00 p.m.

4:30 p.m. –       
Parishioners from Visitation will depart Visitation Church (“B” Street and Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125), heading west on Lehigh Ave., south on 2nd Street, turning right on Spring Garden Avenue, and left onto 17th Street.

The Procession will pick up parishioners from Saint Michael Parish at 2nd and Jefferson Streets around 6:30 p.m. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 8:00 p.m.

5:30 p.m. –       
Parishioners from Saint Joan of Arc Worship Site will depart (2025 E. Atlantic Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134) down Frankford Avenue to Tioga Street. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 7:45 p.m.

7:00 p.m. –       
Parishioners from Sacred Heart, Annunciation B.V.M. and Saint Thomas Parish will depart from Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish (1719 Morris Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145) to the Cathedral by heading north on 18th Street. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 8:00 p.m.

Opening Procession with statues and images of Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Procession Route for Parishes in North Philadelphia:

From Visitation Parish, located at B” Street and Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125, parishioners will walk west on Lehigh Ave., down 2nd Street, pass Saint Michael Parish (where Saint Michael parishioners will join the procession), turning right on Spring Garden Ave., and left onto 17th Street onto the Cathedral.

From Saint Joan of Arc Church, located at 2025 E. Atlantic Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134, parishioners will walk down Atlantic Street to Frankford Ave., Frankford Ave. to Tioga St., traveling east on Tioga to Aramingo Ave., traveling south Aramingo Ave. to Girard Ave., taking Girard Ave. to 2nd St., walking down 2nd Street to Spring Garden Ave., traveling south on Spring Garden Ave. to 17th Street onto the Cathedral. 

Procession Route for Parishes in South Philadelphia:

From Sacred Heart Parish, located at 1404 South 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147, parishioners will process at 6:00 p.m. to Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish going south on Moyamensing Ave, right on Tasker Street, turning right on 17th Street, right at Morris Street to arrive at Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish. Upon gathering with community members from Saint Thomas Aquinas and Annunciation Parish, parishioners will follow the route below.

From Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, located at 1719 Morris Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145, Saint Thomas Aquinas parishioners will be joined by members of Annunciation and Sacred Heart Parish, at 7:00 p.m. They will process on foot, turning right onto 18th Street and heading north to the Cathedral.
