Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez Announces Realignment of Episcopal Regions in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, has realigned episcopal regions in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Previously, the five-county Archdiocese was comprised of four episcopal regions. Effective July 1, 2022 those regions were streamlined. As a result, three episcopal regions now encompass the same territorial boundaries.

In order to best serve the needs of the local Church and her people, parishes located throughout the five-county Archdiocese have been grouped into these three regions. An Episcopal Vicar appointed by Archbishop Pérez oversees each region.

Most Reverend John J. McIntyre, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, serves as the Episcopal Vicar for Region 1, which covers Chester and Delaware Counties. It is comprised of Deanery 1, Deanery 2, Deanery 3, and Deanery 4.

Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, serves as the Episcopal Vicar for Region 2, which covers South Philadelphia, West Philadelphia, Center City, Northern Liberties, Roxborough, Northwest Philadelphia, and Montgomery County. It is comprised of Deanery 5, Deanery 6, Deanery 7, Deanery 8, and Deanery 9.

Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, serves as the Episcopal Vicar for Region 3, which covers Northeast Philadelphia and Bucks County. It is comprised of Deanery 10, Deanery 11, and Deanery 12.

In addition, Archbishop Pérez has appointed Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman, retired Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, as the Vicar for Hispanic Catholics throughout the five-county Archdiocese.

In making this announcement, Archbishop Pérez also expressed his thanks to Reverend Monsignor Michael T. McCulken, who served as Episcopal Vicar for Region 2 since 2014 while fulfilling his duties as Pastor of Saint Eleanor Parish in Collegeville and Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Kutys, who served as Episcopal Vicar for Region 3 since 2013 while fulfilling his duties as Moderator of the Curia for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
