Saint Bede The Venerable Parish (Bucks County) To Host Third Annual Padre Pio Festival

This year’s festival marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Saint Pio and the
100th anniversary of his Stigmata

Saint Bede the Venerable Parish will host its third annual Padre Pio festival on parish grounds Friday, September 14 – Sunday, September 16, 2018. This year’s festival marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Saint Pio and the 100th anniversary of his Stigmata. All faithful are invited to attend.

The weekend will open Friday, September 14th with a special event for teens and young adults led by Father Jason Buck, parochial Vicar of Saint Eleanor Church (Montgomery County). The night will include a youth Holy Hour and social activities.

Saint Bede the Venerable Parish will also present the relics of Saint Pio during the weekend with opportunities for prayer and veneration of the relics courtesy of the Carmelite Convent Monastery in Philadelphia. Opportunities for the Sacrament of Penance and Mass will also be available.

Key highlights of the three day festival include live entertainment, food and craft vendors, and a parish and community picnic among many others.

ABOUT PADRE PIO
Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, also known as Padre Pio, was an Italian priest and friar of the Capuchin Order of the Friars Minor. Known for his piety and humility, Padre Pio received the marks of the stigmata after praying before a crucifix, becoming the first stigmatized priest in the history of the Church. He was beautified in 1999 and canonized in 2002 by Pope Saint John Paul II. He is the patron saint of civil defense volunteers, adolescents, and the village of Pietrelcina. His feast day is September 23rd.
