John Cooke Named President of Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School

The Office of Catholic Education (OCE) and Faith in the Future are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Cooke as President of Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast High School, effective August 10, 2015.

Mr. Cooke, 41, joins Bonner & Prendie after 12 years of dedicated service at Drexel University in various roles including, Assistant Director of Residential Living for Learning Communities, Director of Campus Activities, and, most recently, as Associate Dean of Students for Campus Engagement. This announcement follows the May 2015 appointment by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., of the previous school president, Reverend James P. Olson, as School Minister of Saints John Neumann-Maria Goretti High School, Philadelphia.

Mr. Christopher Mominey, Chief Operating Officer and Secretary for Catholic Education said, “A key piece to our long term success is finding strong leadership and attracting high quality candidates to our effort toward growth and innovation in Archdiocesan secondary schools. Mr. Cooke has a solid background and proven track record with his leadership experience in higher education and his first-hand knowledge as a past educator in Philadelphia Catholic education. He is fully committed and very much looks forward to working with the Bonner & Prendie community to lead the school into a promising new chapter in its rich history.”

In addition to his positions at Drexel University, Mr. Cooke, a 1991 graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, taught Math, Science and Social Studies and served as Athletic Director at Christ the King Parish School in Philadelphia from 1997 – 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University, a Master of Arts Degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Management, with an anticipated completion date of December 2015, from Drexel University.
