REVEREND LAURENCE J. GLEASON

1952 – 2020

Reverend Laurence J. Gleason, Chaplain, Holy Redeemer Health Systems, died on Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Father Gleason was born on December 3, 1952, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late F. Edgar Gleason and the late Catherine (Pastorius) Gleason.  Father Gleason attended Visitation B.V.M. Parochial School, Trooper and Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Gleason was ordained on May 18, 1996, at the Cathedral of Ss. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua.  Father Gleason served as Parochial Vicar, Our Lady of Ransom Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Horsham; Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Glenside and Saint Agnes Parish, West Chester.  In January 2016, he was appointed Chaplain, Holy Redeemer Health Systems.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Visitation B.V.M. Church, Trooper, on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 10:30 AM.  Because of the current restrictions, Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate a private Mass of Christian Burial for Father Gleason at 11:00 AM.  Among those concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be, Most Reverend Joseph L. Coffey, Reverend Dennis M. Weber, S.d.C., Reverend Mark Kehoe (Diocese of Metuchen), and Reverend Scott D. Brockson will be the homilist.

            Father Gleason is survived by his five brothers and two sisters and many nephews and nieces.  Interment will be at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Norristown.
