REVEREND FRANCIS M. GALLAGHER

Reverend Francis M. Gallagher died on Monday, April 29, 2019.
Father Gallagher was born on August 29, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Francis Gallagher and Katherine (Byrnes) Gallagher. Father Gallagher attended Saint Columba Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Gallagher was ordained on May 16, 1964, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Gallagher served as Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish, Levittown; Saint Cecilia Parish, Coatesville; Saint Joseph Parish, Cheltenham; Saint Joseph Parish, Collingdale; Saint Margaret Parish, Narberth; Immaculate Conception Parish, Levittown; Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Agatha/Saint James Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Francis Xavier Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Paul Parish Philadelphia; and Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, Croydon. He then served as pastor of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish, Croydon and Chaplain, Carmelite Monastery, Philadelphia.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Cecilia Church, Philadelphia, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 9:00 A.M., followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Gallagher at Saint Cecilia Church, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 11:00 AM. Among those concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Robert F. Lucas, Reverend Charles McElroy, and Reverend Mardean Miller. Reverend Charles E. Bonner will be the homilist.
Father Gallagher is survived by his sister, Kathleen Powers and his cousin, Kathleen Gallagher Valenti and nephews and nieces, and many grandnephews and nieces. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
