Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Receives $15,000 Grant from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to Assist With Continued Relief Efforts amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) is pleased to announce it has received a grant allocation in the amount of $15,000 from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy COVID-19 Response Fund to assist with continued relief efforts amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The awarded funds, which were facilitated through Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), will benefit Family Service Centers operated by CSS in vital service areas including food assistance and emergency housing focusing on the needs of families who have experienced severe hardship as a result of the pandemic.

“Thanks to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and to Catholic Charities USA for providing us funds that will enhance our ability to help vulnerable populations in the wake of the pandemic,” said Ms. Camille Crane, Administrator at Casa Del Carmen Family Service Center, one of six such centers are located throughout the five-county metropolitan area.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Family Service Centers, part of the Community-Based Services Division of CSS, have provided critical support and emergency assistance including food, diapers, and social services to those in need. Family Service Centers serve as the first point of contact for individuals, families, and parishes when they seek assistance from CSS.

CSS’ Family Service Center locations include Casa del Carmen (North Philadelphia); Northeast Philadelphia; Southwest Philadelphia; Bucks County (Levittown); Montgomery County (Norristown); and Delaware County (Chester City).
