Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has approved the relegation of the Saint Augustine Church building, the Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Church building, the Saint Madeleine Sophie Church building and the original Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church building to profane but not sordid use.
Archdiocese Announces Decisions In Pastoral Planning Initiative For Parishes In South Philadelphia And Delaware County
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced today that Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has reviewed recommendations of the Archdiocesan Strategic Planning Committee and made decisions regarding three parishes from South Philadelphia and two parishes from Delaware County taking part in the ongoing Parish Area Pastoral Planning Initiative.
In July 2014, Saint Gertrude Parish (West Conshohocken), Saint Mary Parish (Conshohocken), and Saints Cosmas and Damian Parish (Conshohocken) merged with Saint Matthew Parish (Conshohocken) as part of the Parish Area Pastoral Planning Initiative that has been ongoing in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. At that time, each parish merged at the location and retained the name of Saint Matthew Parish.
The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced today the continuation of the Parish Area Pastoral Planning Initiative with three parishes from the City of Philadelphia and two parishes from Delaware County entering the process.
