Cardinal O’Hara High School Girls Basketball Team to Play in PIAA 5A State Championship

Cardinal O’Hara community to cheer team at sendoff as they depart for Hershey

 The Cardinal O’Hara High School (COHS) Girls Basketball Team from Springfield (Delaware County) will contend for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 5A State Championship when they play Chartiers Valley High School from Bridgeville (Allegheny County).

The COHS community will gather to cheer the Lady Lions at a sendoff as they depart ahead of their game on Saturday, March 27th at 5:00 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey (Dauphin County). Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

The game will take place on Saturday, March 27th at 5:00 p.m. and will be televised live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) pcntv.com/basketball/.

The Lady Lions have appeared in two previous state finals appearances in 2009 and 2016. The team is coached by Ms. Chrissie Doogan `93. Ms. Doogan’s daughter, Maggie is a junior and the team’s starting forward.

In addition, the Archbishop Ryan High School Boys Basketball Team will play in the PIAA 5A state championship game on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. against Cathedral Preparatory School from Erie.  Also, playing on Saturday, March 27, 2021 are two more Archdiocese of Philadelphia teams who will compete for state titles.  The Archbishop Wood High School Girls Basketball Team will face Villa Maria Academy from Erie at 12:00 p.m. in the Girls’ 4A Championship followed by Archbishop Wood’s Boys Basketball Team who will play against Reading High School from Reading in the Boys’ 6A Championship at 7:30 p.m.
