Archbishop Chaput Calls For Parishes To Support Relief Efforts For Puerto Rico Earthquake Victims

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has asked that all parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia consider taking up a voluntary collection to help the people of Puerto Rico as they recover in the wake of recent natural disaster.

A series of major earthquakes have devastated the island’s infrastructure. Residents face a long road to recovery and contributed funds will be sent to Catholic Charities USA to help the people of Puerto Rico. Many – including religious communities – have lost everything.

At the discretion of individual pastors, this additional collection may be taken up at any time in the coming months as it is envisioned that there will be ongoing need.
