Advent Retreat

The Office for Consecrated Life is sponsoring an Advent retreat on Saturday, December 14th at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The retreat will explore the “Three Comings of Christ,” will be led by Sister Sara Butler, M.S.B.T., and will include Mass and opportunities for confession and quiet time in the Cathedral. 32nd Annual Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary Open House and Christmas Concert

Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary’s 32nd Annual Open House and Christmas Concert will be held on Sunday, December 8th. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., visitors can tour the campus and art collection including the international Christmas Crèche display and Papal artifacts from the 2015 Apostolic visit. The Christmas Concert begins at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Saint Martin of Tours. It will feature the musicians and choir of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. All are welcome to attend. There will be a free will offering for a charity to be chosen by the seminarians.

Christmas at the Cathedral Basilica

The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will hold its annual Christmas Concert and prayer service on Sunday, December 8th. This year’s program will begin at 3:00 p.m., and include “Seek Him that Maketh the Seven Stars” (Jonathan Dove), the riveting “In Splendoribus Sanctorum” (James Macmillan), Sir Christèmas (William Mathias), the Advent Responsory (Richard Marlow) and holiday favorites for all to join in singing. All are welcome to come and pause for an afternoon of reflection and prayer in anticipation of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Archbishop Chaput encourages the clergy and faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to pray with the Bishops of the United States to end abortion January 21–29, 2020. The “9 Days for Life” novena spans the March for Life and can be a way to participate spiritually with thousands of pilgrims from the Archdiocese who will travel to Washington, DC on Friday, January 24.
