Secondary School System and Association of Catholic Teachers Reach New Labor-Management Agreement

The Secondary School System of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Association of Catholic Teachers are happy to announce that a new contract agreement was ratified by the teachers at a General Membership Meeting held on June 24, 2015. The new one-year Agreement takes effect on September 1, 2015 and affects the 625 high school lay teachers in the 17 Archdiocesan high schools.

The School System and the Association agreed to focus on key financial issues in an effort to streamline negotiations and settle the contract well before the beginning of the school year. The negotiating teams met often throughout the spring and early summer in a joint effort to achieve a contract settlement.

The Agreement provides for salary increases of $1,350 per teacher for 2015-2016 and addresses rising medical costs in a manner that is fair to all parties. There will be increases in employee contributions to the medical plans. Both parties agreed to work together in an effort to better manage health care costs moving forward.

Both the Association and the School System are pleased that these successful negotiations will assure students and their parents that the 17 Archdiocesan high schools will open on time in September, poised for another year of success.
