Office of Catholic Education to Hold Religion Bee Finals for Schools Throughout the Five County Metropolitan Area

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education will host the championship round of the Archdiocesan Elementary School Religion Bee.

Twelve students attending parish and regional elementary schools from throughout the five-county region will compete for the Archdiocesan championship following their progression through local and regional religion bees.

The competition will be streamed live on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools’ Facebook Page @AOPSschools.

Religion Bees were previously held at 70 parish and regional Catholic elementary schools and private Catholic elementary schools throughout the five-county region to determine local champions. Students in grades five through eight at all schools were eligible to participate.

A preliminary round featured competition among these 70 students. Those competitions were held on Thursday, February 13 at Archbishop Ryan High School (ARHS) in the Northeast section of Philadelphia and at Cardinal O’Hara High School (COHS) in Springfield (Delaware County).

The final round will include six students who participated in the Religion Bee held at ARHS and six students who participated in the Religion Bee held at COHS.

The finalists competing for the championship include:

  • Tora Blome (7th Grade) representing Saint Francis Xavier Parish School in Philadelphia;
  • Caterina Cottini (6th Grade) Mother Teresa Regional Catholic School in King of Prussia (Montgomery County);
  • Tatum Fitzgerald (8th Grade) Saint Luke Parish School in Glenside (Montgomery County);
  • Ansleigh Lapacinski (8th Grade) Saint Cecilia Parish School in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia;
  • Isabella Oliveira (8th Grade) Saint Genevieve Parish School in Flourtown (Montgomery County);
  • Jerome Petr (5th Grade) Holy Cross Regional Catholic School in Collegeville (Montgomery County);
  • Christian Sabatini (8th Grade) Saint Christopher Parish School in the Somerton section of  Philadelphia;
  • Brady Sirkin (7th Grade) Saint Mary Magdalen Parish School in Media (Delaware County);
  • Giovanni Spradlin (8th Grade) Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish School in Glen Mills (Delaware County);
  • Joseph Takfoor (5th Grade) Saint Anthony of Padua Regional Catholic School in the East Passyunk section of Philadelphia;
  • Nolan Tigreros (8th Grade) Saint Katherine of Siena Parish School in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia; and
  • Liam Wajda (6th Grade) Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School in Bensalem (Bucks County).
