Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education (OCE) announced that Ms. Nancy L. Sanchez has been named to the newly created position in OCE as Field Coordinator for Hispanic Outreach effective June 6, 2016.
Mr. Christopher Mominey, Chief Operating Officer and Secretary for Catholic Education said, “We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Nancy as our new Field Coordinator for Hispanic Outreach. Funded in its first year by a grant from the Archdiocesan Education Fund, this new position helps us address one of our largest priorities and greatest opportunities, recruiting and welcoming Latino children and families into our Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. As demographics show, it is imperative for us to reach out to the young Roman Catholics in this country who are Latino.”
As Field Coordinator, Ms. Sanchez will implement the “Notre Dame University Madrinas Model,” an outreach program to recruit and retain Latino families in Catholic schools by creating and strengthening the connection between Latino families and the school community while fostering a culture of support for academic education and spiritual formation. Eight Archdiocesan elementary schools will be part of the pilot program – Saint Anthony of Padua (Philadelphia), Visitation BVM (Philadelphia), Saint Peter the Apostle (Philadelphia), Holy Innocents (Philadelphia), Presentation (Cheltenham), Saint Francis of Assisi (Norristown), Assumption BVM (West Grove) and Sacred Heart (Oxford).
Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ms. Sanchez, joins OCE after most recently serving as the Coordinator of Religious Education at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Norristown and Spanish Consultant for the education publishing company, William H. Sadlier Inc. She earned a Diploma for Catechesis from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in 2008.
