Office of Catholic Education and Association of Catholic Teachers Reach Labor Agreement
The Secondary School System of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Association of Catholic Teachers are pleased to announce jointly that a new contract agreement was ratified by the high school lay teachers at a General Membership Meeting held on June 14, 2016. The new one year Agreement takes effect on September 1, 2016 and affects approximately 640 high school lay teachers in the 17 Archdiocesan high schools.
The Agreement provides for salary increases of $1,100 for 2016-2017 and addresses rising medical costs through the introduction of a pharmacy benefit manager. There will be a new pharmacy provider and there is a new annual deductible for one of the medical plans.
The Association and the School System have bargained in good faith to ensure that lay secondary school teachers in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia receive a salary and benefits compensation package that is highly competitive in comparison to other diocesan secondary school systems in the country while also providing students and school families with a moderately low tuition rate when comparisons are made on the same national spectrum.
Both the Association and the School System are pleased with the successful conclusion of negotiations. This early agreement will provide parents with the assurance that schools will open on time in September.
