Haitian Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to Hold Drive-by Collection for Haiti Relief Efforts

The Haitian Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will be sending a shipping container to Haiti with medical supplies, nonperishable food items, religious articles,
building materials, and additional relief supplies.

Nearly a month after Haiti’s August 14th earthquake, The Haitian Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, in coordination with the Office for Migrants and Refugees and Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), will be collecting donations for a shipping container being sent to Haiti at the end of October. All are invited to bring their donations to Saint William Church.

Saturday, September 11, 2021
9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Saint William Church (front parking lot)
6200 Rising Sun avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19111

Donations may be dropped off across the street from the entrance to Saint William Church in the parking lot. Donations such as toiletries, medicines/medical supplies, school supplies, nonperishables foods (rice, beans, water, and can goods), gently used or new clothes, and outdoor gear like tarps and sleeping bags are all greatly appreciated.

Catholic Social Services will fund the container’s transportation cost. In addition, CSS will provide diapers, clothes, female hygiene and other personal care products. Casa del Carmen Family Service Center, a ministry of CSS, will donate over 100 flip flops.

Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will donate over 5,000 pounds of food of non-perishable food items such as rice, milk, beans, peanuts butter, and more.

The Oblate Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (O.M.I.) will receive all donations. They primarily serve the country’s southwest region of Haiti, the area most affected by the earthquake and a subsequent hurricane.

Donations will go to O.M.I. to assist with feeding and sheltering the population, along with repairing and rebuilding their many schools and churches in the region.

Contributions of goods will be accepted at Saint William Church until October 24, 2021.

Checks donations will be also accepted and may be mailed to Sister Gertrude Borres at the Office for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees at 222 N. 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Checks should be made to The Archdiocese of Philadelphia/PCMR.
