Reverend Ronald J. Ferrier, Retired, Resident, Saint Katherine of Siena Parish, Philadelphia, died suddenly on Sunday, August 2, 2020.
Father Ferrier was born on April 16, 1940, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Jeremiah Ferrier and Margaret Fulginiti. Father Ferrier attended Saint Matthew’s, Parochial School, Conshohocken and Archbishop Kennedy Catholic High School, Conshohocken, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Ferrier was ordained on May 18, 1968, at Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Ferrier served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Isidore Parish, Quakertown. Father taught Physical Science and Latin at Cardinal Dougherty High School for 40 years; 27 of those years he was the Chaplain to the Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth in their Provincial House in Torresdale. He also served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Katherine of Siena Parish, Philadelphia, until his retirement in 2015.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Katherine of Siena Church, Philadelphia, on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 9:00 A.M., followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Ferrier at Saint Katherine of Siena Church, Philadelphia, on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. Among those Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend David M. Buffum, Reverend William J. Monahan, and Reverend Monsignor Thomas A. Murray. Reverend Monsignor Paul M. Kennedy will be the homilist.
Father Ferrier is survived by his brother, sister and nephew. Interment will be at Saint Matthew Cemetery, Conshohocken.
