Catholic Social Services’ to Host End of Summer Celebration for Participants of Workready Program
Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) will mark the end of the summer by hosting a celebration for its WorkReady Program participants. Children and youth who participate in the Northeast Out-of-School Time Program (OST) will also be invited to take part in the festivities.
Wednesday, August 9, 2023
11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Northeast Family Service Center
7340 Jackson Street
Philadelphia, PA 19136
The rain date for CSS’ summer celebration is Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:30 a.m.
The outdoor event will include carnival games, art activities, food, music, and prizes. Over 150 individuals will be in attendance, including 125 WorkReady participants and nearly 45 children who benefit from Northeast OST Summer Camp.
CSS implements the Summer WorkReady Program managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network to provide middle through high school students with educationally enriched work opportunities at various OST sites. This paid program helps youth to understand the importance of work etiquette, skill attainment, and high school completion.
Throughout the summer months, OST programs support working families by offering places for their children to participate in recreational activities and academic reinforcement programs to help them avoid summer learning loss. Students participate in a variety of programming including dance, culinary arts, sewing classes, STEM education and more.
