UPDATED STATEMENT FROM THE ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA REGARDING FIRE AT OUR LADY OF ANGELS SCHOOL IN MORTON, PENNSYLVANIA

The fire which severely damaged Our Lady of Angels School in Morton (OLA) last night is a moment of deep sadness for parish and school families as well as the Catholic community at large in the region.

At this time, senior administrators from the Office of Catholic Education are meeting with school and parish leadership. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will provide every mode of support possible.

OLA school operations are guaranteed to start on time in September. Students and teachers will utilize space at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Delaware County. Further developments and logistical details pertaining to OLA operations are being determined and will be communicated to parish and school families as soon as possible.

We are grateful to the fire fighters and first responders who worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze, many of whom are alumni of OLA. It is a blessing that no one was injured as a result of the fire.
