The Archdiocese Of Philadelphia Launches The 2019 Catholic Charities Appeal And Sets $12.5 Million Fundraising Goal

At a news conference this morning, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia launched the 2019 Catholic Charities Appeal (CCA), the single largest fundraising initiative in the Archdiocese. The theme for this year’s Appeal is “Giving Hope to All” and the fundraising goal is $12.5 million.

The announcement took place at Saint Katherine Day School in Wynnewood (Montgomery County), one of four Archdiocesan Schools of Special Education. All four schools receive funding from CCA.

CCA provides necessary support to tens of thousands of people. The 180 beneficiary organizations and programs are grouped into five areas of ministry: Education; Social Services; Evangelization, Parish and Spiritual Life; Clergy; and Local Mission Activities. These beneficiaries provide services and support to some of the most in need, at risk, and vulnerable segments of the population in the Philadelphia metropolitan area who come from all walks of life and various faith traditions.

Ms. Linda McDonough, President of the Catholic Charities Appeal Board “Today, we officially launch the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s 2019 Catholic Charities Appeal, Giving Hope to All. But what does that mean? Giving Hope to All means that a special needs student has access to a quality Catholic education, one that is designed to meet his or her individual needs.  It means that through Nutritional Development Services we are able to nourish the hungry through one of our many food pantries across the region.  It means that families across the Archdiocese are provided with core services including much needed baby items like diapers and formula, pregnancy and parenting classes, family strengthening programs, emergency rent and utility assistance. Giving Hope means this and so much more. When you give to the Catholic Charities Appeal, you shine a light of hope. You feed the hungry, aid the poor and bring joy to the suffering.”

In 2018, CCA helped to ensure the vitality of countless organizations and ministries throughout the five-county Archdiocese. The Appeal, along with funding drives for select beneficiaries and a generous bequest, met its $12.5 million goal last year.
