Student athletes and trainers from eight Archdiocesan high schools are completing a week long program with researchers from the University of Notre Dame who are developing voice analysis software that will assist doctors and athletic trainers in recognizing concussions.

The eight schools participating in this program from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia include: Father Judge High School for Boys, Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls, Bishop Shanahan High School (Chester County), Archbishop Wood High School (Bucks County), West Catholic Preparatory High School, Lansdale Catholic High School (Montgomery County), Archbishop John Carroll High School (Delaware County) and Roman Catholic High School for Boys.
During the program students will participate in testing by completing a series of verbal and cognitive directives. Their results will serve as a baseline for researchers. If a student participating in the study is suspected of sustaining a concussion they will repeat the same tests, and the results will be compared to their original baseline.
