Rev. Mr. Kevin C. Okafor to be Ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Nelson Pérez

The Rev. Mr. Kevin C. Okafor, 39, son of Mr. Simon (deceased) and Mrs. Roseline Okafor, will be ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Nelson Pérez.

A native of Nigeria, Rev. Mr. Okafor has been serving as a transitional deacon at Saint Andrew Parish in Newtown, PA, for the past year. He attended Saint Paul Minor Seminary, Ukpor (1995), and All Hallow High School Seminary (1998) in Anambra State, Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (2005), from Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu-Nigeria; he completed a Master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies (2012) at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; and his Master of Divinity (2019) and his Master of Arts (2020) Degrees from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood.  

Father Okafor will celebrate his First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Martin de Tours Church in Philadelphia. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mass is not open to the public.

There are five men from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the Ordination Class of 2020.

Editor’s Note: The newly ordained priests will be assigned, at the conclusion of the Ordination Mass, to an Archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Archbishop to assist the pastor of a parish.
