NORRIS SQUARE SENIOR CENTER TO HOST
ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR AGING

The Norris Square Senior Center, sponsored by Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will host Ms. Josefina Carbonell, the Assistant Secretary for Aging of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Ms. Carbonell will visit with seniors and take a tour of the Center with Maria Frazier, the Norris Center coordinator. Ms. Carbonell will be in Philadelphia to attend the National Conference on Aging.

The Norris Square Senior Center located in North Philadelphia, serves an average of ninety to one hundred Latino seniors each weekday with a variety of programs and activities. Programs include breakfast and lunch, physical fitness and health education programs, a computer lab, arts and crafts, billiards and dominoes, and trips. The Center staff is bi-lingual, English and Spanish. Next to the center is 202 housing for the elderly - 35 apartments for low and moderate-income seniors developed by Catholic Social Services in partnership with Norris Square Civic Association and HUD.
