REVEREND FRANCIS G. LENDACKY

1934 – 2016

Reverend Francis G. Lendacky, Pastor, Saint Agnes – Saint John Nepomucene Parish, Philadelphia, died at Vitas Hospice, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, on Sunday, June 26, 2016.

Father Lendacky was born on January 16, 1934, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Albert F. Lendacky and the late Pauline Posivak. Father Lendacky attended Our Mother of Sorrows Parochial School, Bridgeport, and Saint Matthew High School, Conshohocken, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Lendacky was ordained on May 13, 1961, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Lendacky served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, Ambler; Saint Agatha/Saint James Parish, Philadelphia; Sacred Heart Parish, Phoenixville; and Holy Child Parish, Philadelphia. Father Lendacky has served as Parochial Administrator and then Pastor at  Saint Agnes – Saint John Nepomucene Parish, Philadelphia, since June 1978. Father Lendacky has also been very active with the Legion of Mary for many years.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Agnes – Saint John Nepomucene Church, Philadelphia, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 9:00 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Lendacky at Saint Agnes – Saint John Nepomucene Church, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Most Reverend Louis DeSimone, Most Reverend Robert Maginnis, Reverend Frank Giuffre, Reverend Edward Kuczynski, and Reverend Monsignor Daniel Sullivan. Father Kuczynski will be the homilist.

Father Lendacky is survived by his sister, Sister M. Paulette Lendacky, SSCM, and cousins Gerry and Roy Harrison. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
