REVEREND MONSIGNOR JOSEPH T. KANE

1934 – 2016

Reverend Monsignor Joseph T. Kane, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, Warrington, died at Saint Mary Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Lansdale, on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

Monsignor Kane was born on February 28, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Francis L. Kane and the late Catherine V. Bolton. Monsignor Kane attended Saint Matthew Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Joseph Prep High School, Philadelphia and North Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Monsignor Kane was ordained on May 19, 1962, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol and named Honorary Prelate of His Holiness Pope John Paul II on March 14, 1998. Monsignor Kane served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Michael Parish, Chester; Saint Augustine Parish, Bridgeport; Saint Joseph Parish, Collingdale; Saint Martha Parish, Philadelphia; Immaculate Conception Parish, Jenkintown and Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Secane. Monsignor Kane served as Pastor at Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, Warrington, and was named Pastor Emeritus in June 2005. He also served as Administrator, Regina Coeli Residence for Priests.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, Warrington, on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 9:000 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Kane at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Reverend Monsignor Phillip Cribben, Reverend Monsignor Joseph Garvin, Reverend Monsignor Richard Bolger, and Reverend Raymond Himsworth. Monsignor Cribben will be the homilist.

Monsignor Kane is survived by his brothers, Thomas F. Kane; Francis X. Kane; James Kane, and nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Warminster.
