PERMANENT DEACON PAUL A. HAGERTY

 1929 – 2017

Deacon Paul A. Hagerty, retired permanent deacon, died on Saturday, March 18, 2017, due to complications from a fall.  He was 87 years old.

Deacon Hagerty was ordained at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, on June 1, 1997, by Most Reverend Joseph F. Martino.  He was assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish, Jenkintown, and remained there until he retired on January 28, 2011.

Deacon Hagerty was married to the late Margaret T. Nolan, who died in 2004.  He is survived by his brother Eugene P. Hagerty, five children; Matthew, Anne Lewis (Deacon Charles G. Lewis), Beth Antoni, John, and Philip, 16 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

The Reception of the Body and viewing will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 602 West Avenue, Jenkintown from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  A second viewing will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.  

The principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Edward M. Deilman.  The homilist will be Deacon Charles G. Lewis.  Concelebrants will include: Reverend Monsignor David E. Diamond, Reverend John F. Wackerman, and Reverend Thomas F. Dailey, O.S.F.S.  The Deacon of the Mass will be Deacon Charles G. Lewis.  Deacon Chaplains will be Deacon Alvin A. Clay and Deacon C. Stephens Vondercrone.
