1936 – 2015

Reverend James W. Donlon, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Matthew Parish, Conshohocken, died at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

Father Donlon was born on April 25, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Frank J. Donlon and the late Claire C. Lynch. Father Donlon attended Saint Francis Xavier
Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Donlon was ordained on May 22, 1965, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Donlon served as Parochial Vicar at Assumption B.V.M. Parish, Feasterville; Saint Andrew Parish, Drexel Hill; Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Norristown; Saint Anne Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph Parish, Collingdale; and Stella Maris Parish, Philadelphia. In 1989 he was appointed Pastor, Saint Matthew Parish, Conshohocken, and named Pastor Emeritus in 2011.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Matthew Church, Conshohocken, on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 9:00 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Donlon at Saint Matthew Church, on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Edward H. Bell, Reverend Anthony J. DiGuglielmo, Reverend Thomas J. Duffy, and Reverend J. Thomas Heron. Father Bell will be the homilist.

Father Donlon is survived by his cousins. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
