Catholic Social Services Of The Archdiocese Of Philadelphia “Shares The Journey” With Immigrants And Refugees From The Refugee Resettlement Program

Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) is responding to Pope Francis’ call to Share the Journey with immigrants and refugees by hosting a welcome luncheon for newly arrived individuals from its Refugee Resettlement Program.

Share the Journey is a global public awareness campaign that aims to dispel fear and inspire communities to build relationships with those forced to leave their native lands due to violence, oppression, famine, and other hardships.

Wednesday, September 27, 2017
1:00 p.m.
The Chester Family Service Center
130 East 7th Street
Chester, PA 19013 (Delaware County)

Earlier this year, CSS reopened its Refugee Resettlement Program with referrals coming through the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). So far, the program has welcomed 33 individuals and families from Afghanistan, Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia, Sudan, and the Ukraine. Through the program, individuals and families are provided with the basics of food, shelter, and clothing. In addition, CSS assists refugees by helping them find a permanent home, employment, education, and access to medical and social services.

Approximately 75 immigrants, refugees, and CSS staff will attend the welcome luncheon.
