Catholic Health Care Services Of The Archdiocese Of Philadelphia Announces Name Change To Catholic Housing And Community Services

Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is pleased to announce that Catholic Health Care Services has been officially renamed Catholic Housing and Community Services (CHCS).

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. pronounced the historic name change at the blessing and dedication of Saint John Neumann Place II (SJNPII), an affordable senior housing development for independent seniors in South Philadelphia. SJNPII is one of five CHCS senior housing communities that allow residents to remain active in their communities while enjoying comfortable, affordable apartment living.

He was joined by Auxiliary Bishop John J. McIntyre, who oversees the Secretariat for Catholic Human Services as part of his administrative and pastoral responsibilities in the Archdiocese. Mr. James Amato, Secretary for Catholic Human Services and Mr. John Wagner, Deputy Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of CHCS, were also present.

Archbishop Chaput said, “Catholic Housing and Community Services’ name was chosen as a result of careful prayer and consideration. The new name more accurately reflects the support and programs provided to senior citizens throughout the Archdiocese. These programs help senior citizens age safely in place in the communities of their choice. I’m grateful to CHCS’ staff for providing services with dignity to the older adults they serve each day.”

CHCS is a leading provider of senior living services throughout the Philadelphia region. Dedicated staff are committed to providing the best quality support for seniors and their loved ones. Programs include senior housing, senior centers, older adult care management, in-home support programs, adult day care, elder care helpline, and senior clubs.
