Denise Clofine, Administrator of Saint Edmond’s Home said, “The funds from the Catholic Charities Appeal and #GivingTuesday are truly a blessing.  We are so very grateful.  They will enable Saint Edmond’s Home to purchase therapeutic equipment such as scooters, adapted tricycles, standers, and wedges. This equipment will provide opportunities for stretching, exercise, socialization, and increasing muscle strength and control for children who face incredible challenges each day. The therapists at Saint Edmond’s Home are able to utilize the equipment to assist the children experience everyday activities that every other child experiences.”

Denise Clofine, Mr. David Ripsom, President of the CCA Board, and Mr. James Amato, Secretary for Catholic Human Services will attend the presentation and will offer brief remarks.

Located in Rosemont (Montgomery County) Saint Edmond’s Home for Children was founded by Archbishop Edmond Prendergast in 1916 to meet the needs of children afflicted by polio. First located at 44th Street and Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia, the home was administered by the Sisters of Bon Secours and was the first Catholic home of its kind in America. One hundred years later, Saint Edmond’s Home for Children is an Intermediate Care Facility for children with severe and profound intellectual and physical disabilities. The facility’s primary role is to provide an exceptional range of services and compassionate, quality care for medically fragile children ages 6 weeks to 21 years.
