Press Conference
Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Good Morning!

First, I wish to thank Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for the gift of the priesthood.  For forty-nine years, I have had the privilege of celebrating mass every day  - whether in a parish Church, Cathedral and at other special gatherings.

I deeply appreciated being able to administer the Sacraments instituted by our Lord to the wonderful people of this Archdiocese.

I am grateful to Cardinal Krol, Cardinal Bevilacqua and Cardinal Rigali for the confidence they had in me, in the various ministries to which I was appointed.  I am very grateful for the encouragement and support I received from all of them in carrying out these duties.

Throughout my priesthood and years as an Auxiliary Bishop, I have felt the love and support of my family, the other Bishops, priests and deacons, religious men and women and the lay faithful of this great Archdiocese.  You have provided me with your prayers of encouragement and challenged to be a more holy priest.  For this, I will be eternally grateful.

I really just see myself shifting gears so that I can exercise my priestly ministry in new and different ways.  But I do look forward to being able to read more and in prayerful reflection.

I will, God willing, continue to be of service to the Archdiocese in any way I can.  I will be pleased to assist His Eminence in any area in which I might be helpful.

Again, I thank God for all the gifts and graces He has given me and “stayed with me” over these years.  I promise to keep you in my prayers and ask the same from you.
