Immaculée Ilibagiza, to talk about Faith, Hope, Love and Forgiveness
Immaculée Ilibagiza, a Rwandan genocide survivor, New York Times best-selling author of Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Genocide and renown speaker will lead a weekend retreat at the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood.

“Immaculée’s testimony is an incredible one of love, forgiveness, faith and hope. She not only survived the genocide by hiding in a cramped bathroom with seven other women, but she was also able to forgive her tormentors and her family’s murderers,” said Joe Gennaro, Executive Director of Our Lady of Grace Shrine at Marylake, a location where Immaculee recently spoke.
“She credits her salvation to prayer and a set of rosary beads given to her by her devout Catholic father. Anger and resentments were eating her alive while she hid from her persecutors in a bathroom. Instead of succumbing to the rage she felt, she turned to prayer,” said Gennaro.
“Having this world renowned author and gifted speaker in Philadelphia is truly an honor,” said Alonza Baker, a volunteer organizing the event.
A Weekend of Healing and Hope is the theme of the retreat. Tickets are $57 for a single general admission ticket and $95 for a couple. All are welcomed to attend.
