ASSOCIATION OF THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS REAFFIRMS ACCREDITATION OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO SEMINARY

On February 15, 2019, the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) Board of Commissioners reaffirmed the accreditation of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary for a period of 10 years.

“Saint Charles Seminary is blessed to receive accreditation for the rigorous spiritual and academic programs that we provide. The 10 year accreditation period ensures that we will continue to be able to provide a high quality education for our students,” said Saint Charles Seminary Rector Bishop Timothy C. Senior.  “I am very grateful to our outstanding and hardworking faculty and staff who have made this re-accreditation possible.”

In the process of reaffirming the accreditation, the Board of Commissioners highlighted several strengths including the Spiritual Year; strong leadership; a clear culture of planning, evaluation and assessment; and a strong and shared enthusiasm for the seminary’s mission from faculty, staff, students and the board of trustees.

Specifically, the Board re-approved four degree programs, which include Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Arts (Philosophical Studies) and Master of Arts (Theology).

Editor’s Note: Founded in 1832, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary has been forming men for priestly service in the Catholic Church for more than 180 years.  In August 2018, the seminary reported an overall enrollment of 175 seminarians, the largest enrollment since 2000-2001. Of the 52 new seminarians, 18 are seminarians studying for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. With the generosity of many, these young seminarians are able to successfully transform into the compassionate and loyal priests and inspiring leaders of tomorrow’s Church.  For more information on Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, please call 610-667-3394 or visit www.scs.edu.
