Archdiocese of Philadelphia to Host Annual Commemoration Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Office for Black Catholics of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will host its annual celebration commemorating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year’s gathering will feature a performance by the Philadelphia Catholic Gospel Choir followed by a special keynote address. The presenter will be Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton, Bishop of Belleville, Illinois. The theme for his talk will be “Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King and the Racial Divide in the United States.”

Bishop Braxton is a leading voice in the Catholic Church addressing the racial divide in the United States. He is the author of several books, and his writings on a wide range of theological and pastoral topics have appeared in various publications. All are welcome to attend.

The Annual Archdiocesan Commemorative celebration is sponsored by the Secretariat for Evangelization, the Office for Black Catholics, and local parishes serving the pastoral and spiritual needs of the Black Catholic community.
