The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will hold its annual Mass honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe on the eve of her feast. Our Lady of Guadalupe is patroness of the Americas, unborn children, and the New Evangelization.

Auxiliary Bishop Edward M. Deliman, who oversees ministry to the Hispanic Catholic community, will be the principal celebrant and homilist. A special blessing will be imparted at the end of Mass to all migrants and refugees in solidarity with the Share the Journey campaign initiated by Pope Francis. He launched that initiative in September 2017 to draw attention to the plight of migrants and refugees around the world and encourage people to “welcome the stranger.”

Faithful from across the City of Philadelphia will process on foot from their home parishes to the Cathedral. The celebration will include a procession around the exterior of the Cathedral. At the conclusion of the Mass, Our Lady of Guadalupe’s image will leave the Sanctuary to greet all gathered.  All are invited to attend.  

Pilgrims from Saint Thomas Aquinas, Sacred Heart, and Annunciation B.V.M. parishes in South Philadelphia will process on foot from Saint Thomas Aquinas Church to the Cathedral.

Pilgrims from Holy Innocents Parish (including faithful from Saint Joan of Arc Mission Church), Visitation B.V.M Parish, Saint Hugh of Cluny Church, and Saint Michael Parish will process on foot from North Philadelphia to the Cathedral. Saint Veronica Parish will pilgrimage on a bus.

Pilgrimage Schedule from Philadelphia parishes to Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral:

4:30 p.m.:        Parishioners from Visitation and Saint Hugh of Cluny Church depart Visitation Church, led by a Norteño Band composed of accordion and the bajo sexton (“B” Street and Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125) West on Lehigh Ave., down 2nd Street. The Procession picks up Saint Michael Parish parishioners (2^nd and Jefferson Streets) around 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 7:45 p.m.

5:30 p.m.:        Parishioners depart from Saint Joan of Arc Church (2025 E. Atlantic Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134) down Frankford Avenue to Tioga Street. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 7:45 p.m.

7:00 p.m.:        Procession from Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish departs to the Cathedral. Expected arrival time at the Cathedral is 8:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m.:        Arrival and procession around Cathedral.

9:00 p.m.:        Mass with music from the Hispanic Choir of Philadelphia under the direction of Damaris Thillet.

Procession Route for Parishes in North Philadelphia:
From Visitation Parish, parishioners from Visitation will travel West on Lehigh Ave., down 2nd Street, pass Saint Michael Parish (where Saint Michael parishioners will join the procession), turning right on Spring Garden Ave., and left onto 17^th Street onto the Cathedral.

From Saint Joan of Arc the procession will take Atlantic Street to Frankford Ave., Frankford Ave. to Tioga St., travel east on Tioga to Aramingo Ave., travel down Aramingo Ave. to Girard Ave., take Girard Ave. to 2^nd St., walk down 2^nd Street to Spring Garden Ave., and travel down Spring Garden Ave. to 17^th Street onto the Cathedral.  

Procession Route for Parishes in South Philadelphia:
Saint Thomas Aquinas, Sacred Heart, and Annunciation B.V.M. parishioners will process from Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish (1719 Morris Street, Philadelphia 19145) turn right onto 18^th Street north to the Cathedral.
