Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. to Host Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Prayer Service

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M., Cap. will be the principal presider at the annual Archdiocesan Interfaith Prayer Service commemorating the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s theme is Open Wide Our Hearts: Our Call to Heal the Racial Divide.

Students from Our Lady of Consolation Parish School, Little Flower High School, Archbishop Ryan High School, and Mount Saint Joseph Academy will offer reflections during the prelude. The music will be provided by the Philadelphia Catholic Gospel Mass Choir, Our Lady of Consolation Parish Choir, Our Mother of Consolation Youth Choir, and the Faith Chapel Church of Philadelphia Choir.

Christian faith leaders from diverse denominations will proclaim a scripture reading and lead a reflection. The homilist will be Monsignor Federico Britto, Pastor of Saint Cyprian Church and Saint Ignatius of Loyola Church (Philadelphia).

The Annual Archdiocesan Commemorative celebration is sponsored by the Secretariat for Evangelization, the Office for Black Catholics, and local parishes serving the pastoral and spiritual needs of the Black Catholic community.
