This morning, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. launched the 2020 Catholic Charities Appeal (CCA), the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s single most important fundraiser, benefiting hundreds of thousands of people through countless organizations and ministries in the Archdiocese. This year’s fundraising goal is $12.5 million with the theme “Giving Hope to All.”

The announcement took place at Divine Providence Village in Springfield (Delaware County), a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and a beneficiary of CCA.

Archbishop Chaput said, “Today we officially launch the 2020 Catholic Charities Appeal—Giving Hope to All. By supporting the Catholic Charities Appeal you are feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and helping students with special needs receive the Catholic education they deserve. You are helping desperate families get back on their feet and bringing joy to the lives of the aged and lonely. The Catholic Charities Appeal beneficiaries are positively impacted every day through your generosity.”

In addition, Ms. Linda McDonough, President of the CCA Board of Directors; Ms. Jean Calvarese-Donovan, the Archdiocesan Administrator at Divine Providence Village; and Sister Kathleen Schipani, I.H.M., Director of Office for Persons with Disabilities & Deaf Apostolate were in attendance to offer remarks.

Each year, CCA helps to ensure the vitality of countless organizations and ministries throughout the five-county Archdiocese. CCA beneficiaries are grouped into five areas of ministries including Education; Social Services; Evangelization, Parish and Spiritual Life; Clergy; and Local Mission Activities.
