Archbishop Chaput Calls for Continued Relief Efforts to Support Hurricane Victims in the Caribbean, Cuba and Puerto Rico

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has asked that all parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia consider taking up an additional voluntary collection to aid victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Parishes previously conducted dedicated fundraising initiatives to support those suffering in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Hurricane Maria has caused catastrophic destruction throughout the Caribbean and has devastated Puerto Rico. Residents there face a long road to recovery and contributed funds will be used to support temporal and pastoral needs of the church as well as humanitarian and recovery assistance through Catholic Charities USA and Catholic Relief Services.

At the discretion of individual pastors, this additional collection may be taken up anytime over the next few months as the needs will be ongoing.
